FC Halifax Town: Vince hails hero Daniel
BOSS Jim Vince predicted a big future for loan striker Colin Daniel after he bagged a hat-trick in FC Halifax Town's 4-0 win over Clitheroe.
The 21-year-old fired Town in front with a stunning volley from a Junior Brown free kick in the first half and it was a strike that had Vince purring.
"The first one was sublime," he said. "His technique was excellent after Junior Brown had spotted him.
"He is a good player with a big future ahead of him in the game.
"I am expecting that when he goes back to Crewe after his loan with us he will stake a claim in the first team.
"That is why he is here, to get a few goals under his belt and believe in himself."
Daniel's second goal was equally important as he shrugged off a couple of defenders to get to a Nigel Jemson long ball and make it 2-0 a couple of minutes after the start of the second half.
"I asked for a high tempo after half time because at 1-0 the opposition is always in the game," said Vince.
"We wanted to make sure we got the game under control early.
"I think four goals was a fair reflection of the way we played."
Clitheroe arrived at the Shay on the back of seven successive Unibond One North wins with their last - and only - league defeat coming on the opening day against Mossley.
But it was an arrival that had been delayed by traffic congestion on the M62 with the game kicking off 15 minutes late, something Vince was happy that his players were able to deal with.
"In pre season when we went to Alfreton there was the same scenario," he said. "That was a good lesson for us.
"It enabled us to prepare properly for the game and to be flexible."
Saturday's win was Town's third in a row and extended their unbeaten run to six games - five of which they have won.
But Vince will not be getting carried away by their impressive surge up the table.
"The word is progression," he said. "That is our objective.
"We take one game at a time and try to make sure we get a little bit better.
"There are still things I am not happy about, and it is about making sure we do things right for 90 minutes, not 45 or 70.
"I will not stop until I get that."
