This Saturday sees the festive mood sweeping Brighouse when the popular Totally Locally Christmas market takes over the town centre for the light switch on.

Traders are promising that this year’s extravaganza will be bigger and better than ever with around 60 stalls, entertainment and food.

Reindeer will be in town from 2pm and Father Christmas will put in an appearance around 4.30pm when the Christmas lights will be switched on in Commercial Street as darkness falls.

Locally-produced food, drink, crafts and gift ideas will fill the market. One of the organisers David Tankard said: “The first Christmas market and light switch-on last year was very well-supported and everyone was so excited to see Santa and the reindeer that we have asked them back again.”

Brighouse and Rastrick Band will have a stall to sell their new CD ‘War of the Worlds’ as well the band’s collaboration with folk group The Unthanks and CDs of Christmas carols.

The market opens at 9am on Saturday until 5pm.
