The fight to save Queenbury Pool is on after Bradford Council earmarked it for closure as part of a shake-up of leisure provision.
Ward Coun Michael Walls (Con) said the pool in Victoria Hall was part of the village heritage left by the mill-owning Foster family.
And, he was critical of the council’s plan to spend £17 million on new pools elsewhere in the district at a time of cost-cutting.
“It’s not sensible to be cutting services while spending money on something that’s not needed. We already have a pool in Queensbury and it’s a community asset.”
Petitions are now circulating to stop the closure.
