Fire crews called to help after flooding hits Todmorden

Firefighters received scores of calls about flooding in Todmorden and Bradford yesterday.

Torrential downpours led to 67 flood-related calls to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service between 4pm and 9pm.

Fire officers were sent to assess the problem at 23 addresses, fire appliances were deployed to three incidents and flooding advice was given to the remaining callers.

In Todmorden, firefighrers said there was some surface water on Burnley Road for a short time.

They were also called out to the BT electrical exchangein Hall Street because the rain had set the alarm off.
