Firefighters were alerted to a house fire by neighbours who heard the smoke alarm.

The crew from Halifax Fire Station was called to Clare Road, Halifax, just after 1am this morning (Monday). When they arrived the property was empty and they had to break in.

Some food had been left in the oven which started the blaze. The oven was badly burnt but the fire caused mostly smoke damage to the property.
