Firefighters battle tyre blaze

A MASSIVE blaze broke out at a tyre compound in Luddenden Foot earlier this evening.

Fire crews spent three and a half hours battling the fire at North Central Tyres on Station Road from 5.15pm.

At its peak, 25 firefighters were at the scene of the blaze which involved a collection of about 80 tyres in a secure compound to the side of the building.

The tyres have been destroyed and part of the building damaged.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
