SCORES of firefighters are still battling to put out a moorland fire which has been burning since Saturday.

Around 20 firefighters are at Ovenden Moor near Cold Edge Road in Wainstalls today trying to stop the blaze during the day, and 30 were there last night.

They have been using a range of specialist equipment including wildfire technology, beaters and a helicopter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but it is believed to have been fuelled by underground peat setting fire, dry conditions and strong winds.
