First snow of the season in Calderdale

The first snow of the winter has fallen in Calderdale as the arctic chill continues.

Queensbury and other higher parts of the borough had snow overnight on Thursday into Friday morning.

And flakes have been falling in Halifax at lunchtime.

There are no reports of travel disruption.

The Met Office is forecasting wintry showers for later in the day.

A weather warning has been issued for Friday night into Saturday night, with forecasters predicting sleet and snow showers leading to icy conditions.

The forecast for Sunday is a warmer day but with heavy rain showers.
