Football - Division One: Chapman strike maintains perfect record
A WONDER goal from Matthew Chapman maintained understrength Falcon Pine's 100 per cent record in a close fought 2-1 victory over Mount Tabor.
Tabor started the game the better with Scott Pickard and Adam Helliwell probing the Pine defence but keeper Dean Crossley was barely troubled.
Pine lost Craig Smith to injury just 15 minutes into the game, but it was his replacement Ed Chun-Lee who helped create the game's opening goal with a searching pass to Adam Probets who ran in and squared for stand in striker Scott Aked to lash the ball past the keeper.
Callum Huggon and Chapman went close to adding to the score and it was against the run of play that Tabor drew level, Danny McGreavey collecting a loose ball and thumping it home from 40 yards.
Pine lost captain Stephen Scholey and full back John Bailey at half time and Tabor looked the stronger side after the break with Gavin Pattison sending in some testing crosses and Pickard always proving a handful.
Ed Brigg's lung busting 60 yard run for Pine was halted by a fine last ditch tackle from Matty Mason as Pine started to gain a stranglehold.
And their hard work paid dividends as they took the lead with 20 minutes remaining, Chapman collecting Briggs's long throw and, spotting the keeper had strayed to his near post, bent a shot across the goal and in off the far upright.
Engineers hung on to claim a narrow 4-3 success over 10-man Halifax Hammers.
Engineers got off to a cracking start with Ryan Thomas putting them ahead after five minutes and they were two up as the same player slammed home from close range.
Conor Darnbrook was sent off ro Hammers when he handled and Paddy Fitzgibbon scored from the spot to make it 3-0.
Hammers pulled a goal back after the break when Terriq Pervez and Wajid Nawaz combined to find Chris Woodhouse who fired into the top corner.
Martin Coldwell put Woodhouse through and he chipped the keeper from distance before Hammers levelled as Wajid Nawaz found Terriq Pervez unmarked at back post.
Engineers won it with just over five minutes remaining, skipper Ryan Brook curling a 25 yard free kick into the top corner.
