Football - Ziggy's A Star Cars Halifax Sunday League: Derby rivals clash for semi-final berth
THE Ama Trading Limited League Cup reaches the quarter final stage tomorrow and sees a repeat of last season's final as Waiters Arms host Engineers.
This battle of Sowerby Bridge promises to be a close one with the Waiters hoping to avenge their loss from the end of season game last year.
Division One sides Carrington Rangers and FC Champs have been drawn to face one another in what should also be a tightly contested affair.
Division Two outfit The Vine face an away day against higher division opposition in the shape of Halifax Rangers whilst another battle of the divisions completes the line-up when Greystones Social Club welcome Bradshaw, the highest scorers in the previous round, to Savile Park.
Further cup action is scheduled with five re-arranged first round ties in The Jonny Mackenzie Senior Cup.
Three of these ties are all-Premier affairs as Royal Hotel face Hollins Holme, Southowram visit Natty Lane to play Bradshaw Phoenix and King Cross CB&AC challenge FC Bowling Green in a battle of two of the top division's high fliers.
At least one more Division One team will be joining the last eight line-up as Halifax Hammers play Mount Tabor.
The final first round game sees Brandy Wine hoping to pull off an impressive cup upset over Greetland CC.
One league game is scheduled in the Premier Division in which Spring Gardens will be looking to pull away at the top of the table with victory over their visitors Shoulder Royd.
Three Division Two fixtures complete this weekend's programme and each features a mid-table side hoping to make an impression on the higher reaches of the league table.
Fourth-placed Stubbing Wharf travel to Elland Sports whilst Oddfellows face a home challenge from Albert Rovers. Mid-table Queens Head play Halifax Rangers Reserves in the final fixture.
