Mount Tabor FC are today taking on a 60-mile bike ride from Halifax to Blackpool to raise awareness and money for testicular cancer.

Eleven players from the Halifax Sunday League Division One club have swapped boots for bikes and have raised £600 for the Everyman Male Cancer Campaign.

They left Halifax at 6.30am this morning and hope to be in Blackpool in time to see this afternoon’s F.A. Cup final.

Club captain and centre half Gavin Pattison said: “We made it our New Year’s resolution to do something for charity. Everyman is a fantastic charity and it’s lads our age who we’re trying to make aware of testicular cancer.”

“We’ve been training hard for a few weeks and we’re hoping to be able to get to the pub in Blackpool before 3pm.”
