Ever fancied a trip to the top of Halifax Minster’s historic bell tower?
Well if you have the nerve to climb the steps that wind to the very pinnacle of this well-known landmark, you now have your chance.
The bell tower tours plus tours of the rest of the Minster are part of the Halifax Heritage Festival, which runs from September 11 to 14.
The project is being led by Marketing Halifax, the town centre management group and various venues – including Halifax Minster – are co-ordinating a series of special events.
The Minster will be open each day throughout the festival and hourly tours will operate on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Visitors will also be able to see the 17th century parish library from York University which will be on display.
Prior to climbing the tower and touring the Minster, visitors can take part in a series of Hidden Gems of Halifax walking tours. The tours, which run on each day of the festival, begin at Halifax Town Hall and finish at the Minster.
