Forfeit is new low for Halifax RUFC

HALIFAX RUFC's disastrous National Three (North) campaign has hit a new low with the club unable to raise a side for tomorrow's game away to Loughborough Students.

Long-term injuries and unavailablilites made it impossible for coach Dave Harrison to name a full team with the front row particularly decimated.

It is the first time Halifax have been forced to forfeit a game and is the final straw in a season that has seen them fail to win a game. They will automatically be deducted two points which reduces their total for the season to four.

They have escaped financial penalties, although failure to fulfil their final game at home to Harrogate on Tuesday would see them expelled from the league system.

"Forfeiting a game is the last thing anybody wanted, but our hands were tied," said Chair-man of Rugby Graham Allan.

"It has been coming for some time and we have been lucky to have staved it off for so long."

Harrison is confident of putting a side out against Harrogate in a game brought forward from the Saturday.

"Harrogate are hosting a county game at the weekend and some of their players and officials will be involved with that," explained Allan.
