PUPILS who used to attend Eastfield School, Lightcliffe, are invited to a preliminary get-together next month.

Former student Phil Barsby is organising the event which will take place at Yates’s in Halifax from 9pm on December 3.

He said he would like to see as many people as possible who used to attend the school at the pub.

The event will be a taster for the reunion entitled ‘Eastfield Secondary School . . . The days before Hipperholme and Lightcliffe’ and is open to everyone who attended the school in Stoney Lane, before it changed its name in 1985.

Phil said: “If you started at the school when it was Eastfield but it changed while you were there you are still able to attend.”

The reunion will be held at Heath Rugby Union Club, clubhouse, Stainland Road, Greetland, on Friday, January 27, 2012, starting at 7.30pm.

The disco will start at 8pm. Tickets cost £5 which are available on the night or by contacting Phil.

A Facebook page has been set up and more than 100 people have joined in just over a month to talk about their memories at the school.

“The invites on Facebook only went out a week ago and we have had some definites and some maybes already for the actual reunion,” said Phil. “We are also asking for people to upload their photos from the school and anything they may have from Eastfield because we don’t seem to be able to find any pictures or photographs.

“So if anyone has anything from their days at school then please do get in touch.”
