A TRIO of friends are currently trekking from one side of the country to the other.

Oliver Wilby, 30 and friends Richard Westwood and Daniel Petty, both 31, are completing the walk for Overgate Hospice. The trio all went to school together at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe.

Now they will spend two weeks together walking the 192 miles from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay hoping to raise £1,000 for the hospice, on Hullenedge Road, Elland.

Bank worker Oliver, teacher Richard and Daniel, who works in engineering, will spend their nights sleeping in budget hotels and hostels.

They complete short walks every month but wanted a bigger challenge.

“Partly it’s for enjoyment, wanting to do something as a challenge but as it’s a long way it’s an ideal way to raise some money for charity And it’s come from personal experience, knowing what the hospice does.

“I think it’s fairly remarkable. It’s just an ideal opportunity for me to be able to raise some money.”
