TWO globe-trotting friends are hoping to have the trip of their lives but are in need of your help to get there.
Kirsty Eccleston, 15, and Harriet Perry, 16, of Crossley Heath School, Savile Park, Halifax, are fund-raising for a World Challenge trip to Peru.
They are desperately looking for local businesses to sponsor a fund-raising race night they have organised on Saturday February 5.
Kirsty, of Broadley Avenue, Halifax, said: "We're hoping to sell as many tickets as possible to the race night but we are also looking for sponsors.
"We've raised around 3,000 so far but need 3,645 plus more to buy the kit we will need to take out there with us."
The girls will fly out on July 27 with 20 other pupils from Years 11, 12 and 13 at Crossley Heath School.
The group will spend a month in Peru doing charity work in a local school, going on long treks and visiting Machu Pichu.
Kirsty added: "I'm excited to work in the school because I want to be a teacher.
"The whole experience will be really interesting."
Harriet, of Meltham, Huddersfield, said: "It will be nice to work with children at the school and see how they live. I'm not looking forward to any weird bugs or insects though.
"For the trek we have to do a lot of small acclimatisation treks so we get used to it and to the altitude.
"We would love to have a sponsor for the race night. We'd like some local businesses to help by placing an advert in the programme that will be provided to everyone on the night in return for a donation.
"A lot of people are doing fund-raising on their own but we wanted to do ours together because we're good friends and it's more fun that way."
The girls have also been involved in group fund-raising, including an evening of entertainment at the school, bag packing and busking in Halifax.
You can support them on their trip by attending the race night fund-raiser on Saturday, February 5 at 5.30pm at the Catholic Club in Hopwood Lane, Halifax. Tickets are 4 for adults and 2.50 for children. Prices include a hot supper.
