A man will embark on a 423km pedal to Paris to raise money for charity.

Chris Appleyard will saddle up to take part in the bike ride alongside friends Chris Nuttall and Nick Simpson to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Chris’ aunt and uncle will also take part in the ride to raise money for charities of their choice.

It’s a cause close to Chris’ heart after Janice Ainsworth, the mother-in-law of Chris Nuttall, was diagnosed with MND and passed away in February.

Chris, 33, of Halifax, said: “Chris mentioned he was thinking of raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease association by taking part in a pedal to Paris event the following year and asked if I was interested.

“I had by this point been getting fit on my bike and running for a while to lose weight and get in shape so thought why not do something worth while in the process.”

The ride will begin in London on September 5 and will finish at the Eiffel Tower on September 8.
