A frier and his grand-daughter delivered 50 portions of fish and chips to Calderdale Food Drop-In Centre.

On November 16, Tony Wells of Westgate Fish Bar, Elland, and six-year-old Maya Langley took fish and chips to feed disadvantaged men and women using the food bank.

Mr Wells said: “We’ve been supporting The Fishermen’s Mission as part of the national centenary of fish friars but we also wanted to do give back to our local community and thought the food centre, with its growing numbers, was a good concern.”

Mr Wells’ grand-daughter also donated her piggy-bank savings to the food bank.
