A FORMER engineer in the power industry is the latest deacon to be ordained.
John Flood, who is married to Joyce, and has a son and two granddaughters, was among six new deacons of the Diocese of Wakefield to be ordained in a ceremony at Wakefield Cathedral.
He will serve as a curate in the parish of St Mary in Todmorden.
He trained for ordination with the Yorkshire Ministry Course through Wakefield School of Ministry.
Previously he had worked as an engineer for more than 25 years.
“Following that I spent over 12 years as a member of a diocesan retreat house community, before retiring to take care of Joyce,” he said.
“My ordination will be the realisation of a deep feeling of vocation that has been growing over the last 30 years.”
