The results are out for the latest round of Calderdale Council’s food hygiene inspections.

It’s good news for 13 establishments who have achieved five star ratings, including Higgins Close Day Centre in Halifax and Mixenden Parents Resource Centre.

Liz Chiles, manager of the Resource Centre, said she was thrilled that the centre had won the award for the second time.

She said: “We got five stars last time we were assessed and we’re very pleased to have maintained that. We do keep our kitchen area very clean and we hope to be able to get three in a row the next time the inspectors come.”

The others to achieve five stars were Waterhouse and Mackintosh Homes Social Club in Halifax, Crossley Mill Nursery in Hebden Bridge, St Johns Fun Club in Clifton and several eateries at the M62 motorway services at Brighouse.

There was disappointment for six places which failed to achieve a single star, and a further five who only recorded one.

AJ’s Ltd in Hebden Bridge was reassessed and given four stars.
