AN ACTIVITY club for the over-50s is appealing for new members to come and join in the fun.

Indoor curling is just one of the games on offer at the weekly sessions, run by the Calderdale Community Coaching Trust in partnership with Age Concern.

Fax star Frank Watene, who runs the club, said: “We’re trying to get people more active and social, and they all seem to love it.

“Now it’s just getting the word out and trying to get more people interested so the group can take care of itself.”

Funding for the pilot sessions runs out in four weeks so more members are urgently needed so the group can become self-sufficient.

Other activities on offer include Wii sessions and board games, and computer classes could be put on if enough people are interested.

The group meets at the Shay each Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and anyone over the age of 50 is welcome to attend.
