FIRE crews were called to a garage blaze that almost spread to a family’s home.
The teams from Halifax were called to the fire at Dunkirk Gardens, off Warley Road, at 2am today.
They said the flames were just catching onto the windowsills of the nearby house when they arrived and managed to stop it spreading.
They were alerted by the family inside who had been woken by their dog barking.
The teams said if the home had ben fitted with a smoke detector, they may have been called earlier.
The fire destroyed everything inside the garage.
