LADIES shopped ‘til they dropped and were glamorously groomed in a fund-raising evening for Project Challenge.
The young people’s charity organised the Ladies’ Beauty and Fashion Evening at Halifax Town Hall on Friday.
A beauty treatment room was set up offering manicures, eyebrow threading and henna tattoos.
A fashion show was held and stalls surrounded the hall, showcasing the products of local stores Shoushi, Crystal Rooms, Love Your Bags and Accessories, Anon Lingerie, Proms and Pearls and The Body Shop.
Dior and Benefit from Harveys of Halifax were also at the evening, as well as Mayor of Calderdale Nader Fekri.
Jazz singer Rachel Adams sang to guests during the interval.
Lorna Butterick, of Project Challenge, said: “This was the first time we’d organised anything like this. I went really well. It was great to be able to use the town hall - to have a town centre venue was brilliant. Everyone was saying how fantastic it was and some people had never been to the town hall before. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. I think the thing about it was the were some models, and some of our staff, and some of our graduates from Project Challenge taking part. And we wanted to focus on local Calderdale businesses helping Calderdale young people, to give them a better start in life.”
Organisers hope to have raised about £1,500 for Project Challenge, which helps disaffected young people in Calderdale. It is this year’s chosen charity of the Mayor of Calderdale. For more information visit www.projectchallenge.org.uk.
