History will be brought to life this Easter Sunday with an innovative theatrical performance at Lister Lane Cemetery from 2pm.
The performance will bring together a group of young actors to re-enact the lives and tell the stories of those buried in the graveyard.
Xander Bryan, project manager and actor in the performance, said: “The actors will be interacting with the audience and it should be quite a unique experience.
“There’s a rich history in Halifax, and Lister Lane Cemetery is the resting place of a lot of really interesting people.
“People usually think of graveyards as places of death, but we want people to see they are important for understand our heritage.”
The play has been made possible with the funding obtained from the Community Foundation for Calderdale.
Local historian David Glover said: “The Friends of Lister Lane in conjuction with a group of budding actors will be putting on this perfomance.
“The performers are being given a certain amount of dramatic licence - we’re not asking them to keep to every detail of people’s lives, but they’ll be able to elaborate and tell a good story.”
