New figures have revealed that half the people in Calderdale have no interest in green issues.
The report, commissioned by Callcredit Information Group, found that 51 per cent of people in Calderdale don’t consider green and ethical issues in daily life, especially when making purchases such as food, clothes or cars.
While most cited affordability as the main reason, 28 per cent admitted they feel environmental concerns are over stated by the media and that their efforts would not make a difference. The same number also blamed their busy lifestyles for not doing more.
Sixteen per cent admitted that they didn’t understand the green terms used.
At the other end of the scale, only 4 per cent are completely devoted to living by their environmental and ethical morals, and are willing to pay premium prices for sound ‘eco’ products.
The information comes from Callcredits ‘Green and Ethical’ segmentation, which sorts people by their attitudes towards environmental issues.
