Greetland too good for Leeds

GREETLAND Goldstars under 10s Girls took the honours against a battling North East Leeds team, winning 5-0 and maintaining their excellent start to the season.

Grace Walker's defence splitting pass found Shauna Hopkins, who finished in style and, after Walker had gone close, Hopkins tucked the ball home to make it 2-0.

Katie Smith made it 3-0 when she steered the ball into the corner of the net.

Greetland defenders Lucy Raine and Sophie Jackson were in commanding form and on the one occasion the NEL attack threatened, Raine made a great last ditch tackle.

Raine added to Greetland's tally when she burst down the right and struck home a low shot.

Hopkins completed her hat-trick on the stroke of half time and Greetland were unlucky not to extend their lead in the second half as they were thwarted by keeper Driscoll, who saved well from Hopkins, Walker and Lydia Robinson.

Greetland followed up their success with a 14-0 win over Battyeford, taking their seasonal goals tally to more than 100.

Olivia Coukham rifled the ball home after which Hopkins slotted home and Coukham made it 3-0.

Smith won the ball on the halfway line before striking home a cracking drive then Lucy Raine and Friend set up Hopkins for the fifth.

Coukham completed her hat trick before Friend made it 7-0 at the break

Greetland extended their lead through Smith before Hopkins completed her hat trick to make it 9-0.

They reached double figures, excellent approach play ending with Friend cracking in a first time shot, and Smith secured her first treble before Hopkins claimed her sixth.

CROSSLEY Belles under 13s secured their seventh consecutive win, beating a Wilsden side that have produced some good performances this season 7-0.

It was a physical encounter with some bruising tackles but Crossleys composed themselves and started to dominate the midfield.

Their first goal came from a corner with Ebonie Dewhurst setting up Sarah Bell to strike a clean shot that gave the keeper no chance.

The second came from Paige Clark, after which a great kick from Lauren Capon found Dewhurst, who caught it well for 3-0.

The second half saw some changes with Niamh Hargreaves, Danielle Whitworth and Aimee Bell coming on but that didn't stop the dominance and the fourth goal was the best with some strong tackling from Jessica Howell allowing Dewhurst to net again.

Wilsden were tiring, giving more space for Lauren Haigh to spin their defence to help Dewhurst to her fifth goal.
