A group of brave women have had their hair cut off for charity.

Helen Moles, owner of Lippylicious on Victoria Road in Elland, arranged for the seven ladies to have their locks chopped off and to be sent to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment.

“I heard someone on the radio who had done the same thing and I couldn’t help but be inspired,” said Helen.

“I thought it was a fantastic cause and so set about finding more people who wanted to donate their hair.”

Helen was able to find six more to take part on the day.

As well as having their hair cut by Elland hairdresser HMC, the woman were given full make-overs by Real Beauty by Leanne, and had their photographs taken by Deb Wilson @ Studio 9.

“There were a few tears on the day and I was one of the first to go,” she said.

“We also had hair donated from two people who couldn’t make it on the day.”

“I also got a call from someone who said her mother was over 100 and that the family had kept her ponytail, which has had cut off when she was in her 20s.

“She said the family had realised they wanted to donate it to the Little Princess Trust, which was incredible,” she said.

“I want to thank the people and businesses who made it happen,” he added.

As well as the valuable hair, £300 will also be sent to the charity.
