Half of Yorkshire shoppers do their Christmas shopping while on the toilet

Online shoppers from across Yorkshire and Humberside are feeling flush, as it was revealed more than half of consumers purchase their Christmas gifts while on the toilet.

Overall, 54 per cent of shoppers froms across the region have said that they shop while sitting on the loo - it was revealed in an international shopping survey carried out by myHermes.

The consumer delivery specialists surveyed 2,000 online shoppers from across the UK to find what the most unusal online shopping habits are.

Other unusual locations where people shopped online this year include the top of the Eiffel Tower, while on a roller coaster and during a friend’s wedding. Two per cent of people from Yorkshire and Humberside also admitted to purchasing online while riding a bike.

Mark Pettit, Sales & Marketing Director, Hermes, said: “There has been a huge growth in the number of people owning smartphones and tablets and therefore it’s no surprise to hear that more and more people are now shopping in unusual places. Of the British shoppers buying in strange locations almost two thirds (63 per cent) used these devices.”
