The 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment (Duke of Wellington’s) will stage a Freedom Parade and the “Laying up of Colours” in Halifax next Saturday (20th).

The Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, will be in attendance together with civic heads.

Crowds are expected to line the streets and the schedule is: 3.40 pm the parade leaves from Union Street; 4.00 pm parade arrives at the Piece Hall where there will be an inspection, speeches and victory beating by drummers.

4.30 pm the parade departs Piece Hall arriving at 4.40 pm at Halifax Minster where there will be a service at 5.15 pm to “Lay up the Colours.”

The parade route covers Union Street, Market Street, Northgate, Crossley Street, Princess Street, Southgate, Wards End, Horton Street, Piece Hall and then Horton Street, Square Road, Alfred Street East, Church Street, Halifax Minster. The parade will be led by mounted police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Band.
