A charity social night was held at Hair Nineteen in aid of the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust.

The event raised over £210 with the help of raffles and clothes swaps.

Hairdressers and clients for the salon, as well as friends attended the fundraiser.

Liz Redmond, hairdresser at Hair Nineteen and organiser of the event, said: “It was a really good night. We had a good turn out and about 30 people attended.

“People bought items of clothing with them and swapped it with others, then donated some money.

“It was great being able to raise that amount of money for the Laura Crane Trust.”

Laura Crane is a former Brighouse High School student who died in May, 1996 after being diagnosed with cancer.

Laura was diagnosed at 15 years old in May 1995 with four types of cancer, three of them were aggressive.

The trust was set up to fund medical research into cancer affecting teenagers and young adults.

Money raised also goes towards focusing on improving the quality of life for young cancer patients, both during and after their illneses.
