Haulage company Expect Distribution has given a £2,000 boost to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice following a charity soccer tournament.

Expect managing director Neil Rushworth and sales executive Gemma Bentley presented the proceeds from the competition to Kate Goldring of the hospice which is based in Huddersfield and cares for youngsters with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.

Sixteen teams including ex-Huddersfield Town players took part in the seven-a-side contest held in June at PPG Canalside, the Championshop club’s training facility.

The total raised on the day was £1,496, thanks to generous donations from Expects’ employees, customers and suppliers that took part in the tournament.

This was boosted to £2,000 by directors at Expect Distribution, which employs 230 people at its depots at Halifax, Low Moor and Bradford.

Gemma said: “We have formed a great relationship with the charity.

“The team at the hospice do a fantastic job and we love to hear on a regular basis how our fundraising has helped the children and their families. We will continue to support the Hospice and are regularly looking at ways that we can

help to raise as much money as possible.”
