Thirteen-year-old Sophia Iqbal joined Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust chief executive Owen Williams on Takeover Day to look around and find out more about the local NHS.

Sophia, a student at Crossley Heath School, Halifax, hopes for a career in paediatric medicine and is currently in year nine.

She said: “It was very interesting and good experience especially on the children’s assessment unit talking to the nurses.”

Earlier she toured the new Acre Mills complex across from Huddersfield Royal Infirmary which is due to open as an outpatients centre next year.

Mr Williams, said: “It was a pleasure to show Sophia around our Trust and for her to able to meet colleagues and find out more about her chosen career. We wish her well.”
