As good as it may look, I think that the Westgate Canopy is a complete waste of money and pretty pointless to say the least.
What was the reason for placing it there? My reckoning is that it is because it has the most expensive shops there and would attract a different sort of company.
It would seem that Calderdale Council have too much money going into the wrong places with X amount of money going into to schools that are due to close down and fancy canopies over streets out of the main shopping areas.
I am happy to hear that new leisure facilities are being considered as there is currently nothing for young people to do at all; getting rid of the cinema and replacing it with a pub was possibly the worst thing the Council has ever done!
