'Halifax must have a football team next season,' says MP
HALIFAX MP Linda Riordan has urged everyone involved with the Halifax Town to work towards putting a team on the pitch next season.
She said the demotion to the Unibond Division One North was disappointing but now was the time to look to the future.
"There are three priorities that people involved with the club should be aiming to achieve," she said.
"Firstly, ensure there is a football team in place for the start of the new season.
"Secondly, that the team is playing at the Shay. And thirdly, that the main stand gets completed.
"The council has given its commitment to completing that project and I am sure the people involved with the club are acting in its best interests for the future.
"I hope so because loyal Halifax supporters deserve to have a well run football team in place come August's kick off."
But fans' remain uncomfortable through a lack of communication.
Halifax Town Football Club still hasn't been liquidated and administrators have failed to answer questions from the Courier and the Halifax Town Supporters' Trust.
Meanwhile, the consortium planning to run the reformed club have refused to engage in dialogue and hinted it could be next month before their plans become clearer.
The next deadline to be met is 5pm on Tuesday, June 24 when a business plan has to be with the Unibond League.
