Halifax RLFC: We'll be ready: Damian - see the video interview plus the Fax tries v Cas
HALIFAX assistant coach Damian Ball has insisted the club are determined to avoid a Challenge Cup hangover ahead of Sunday's Championship date with Sheffield Eagles at the Shay.
Matt Calland's side, who top the league ladder with seven wins from seven starts, go into the meeting with the South Yorkshire side on the back of last weekend's tumultuous 35-34 golden point Challenge Cup loss at Castleford.
And Ball admitted that the priority this week was to refocus on Fax's Grand Final goal and avoid any kind of anti-climax against a Sheffield side they have already thumped 50-18 in Northern Rail Cup football in 2009.
"It's certainly a worry, but it's our job to make sure the players are fresh and ready to go," said Ball.
"They are all motivated to kick on, but we do need to be cautious about this game.
"The last thing we need is to go into Sunday thinking we are going to win by 40 points because it just doesn't work like that.
"Everyone is still buzzing though.
"I just think they want to get the Sheffield game underway now and concentrate on that."
But Ball believes the Eagles will be present a significantly tougher challenge than the side brushed aside at the Don Valley Stadium in the spring.
"They are going to be a different proposition to earlier in the season and we need to be very professional," said Ball, who highlighted Sheffield's own Cup exploits - an eventual 34-24 reverse at in-form Hull KR - as evidence.
"I spoke to Ben Fisher over at Hull KR earlier in the week and he said they were full of conviction and a never say die attitude.
"They are a dangerous side."
