Halifax Town 1 Stevenage Borough 2: Duo thank Terras

LEWIS Killeen has experienced play off disappointment and last day survival during his time at the Shay.

And the Town frontman admitted that Saturday's experience was the worst of the lot.

Halifax went down 2-1 at home to Stevenage in their final game of the campaign.

And they finally knew they were safe from the drop when news came through that Altrincham had only managed a 2-2 draw at Weymouth, leaving the Manchester side a point adrift.

"This was the worst ending to a season ever," he said. "Last year was bad enough, but in that game we got an early goal.

"To go behind made it more nerve-wracking but we are just thankful that Weymouth got a result for us."

Jake Wright, who has been outstanding in the closing months of a difficult season, echoed Killeen's feelings.

But he added that he felt the Shaymen deserved to stay up after a massive which saw them win two and draw two of the six games following the 6-1 home defeat to Kidderminster.

"We put ourselves under too much pressure and a couple of bits of sloppy defending allowed Stevenage to score two goals," he said.

"But the way we played we deserved a lot more out of the game.

"It was ridiculous waiting for the other result to come in.

"It was very nerve-wracking but luckily Weymouth held on."
