Halifax Town: we're up for promotion battle - Crossley
TOWN will be happy to grind out wins in each of their last 18 matches if it means promotion from Unibond One North.
That's the view of skipper Ryan Crossley who knows that the Shaymen will have to fight for every point they get between now and the end of the season.
Crossley led the side to a 2-0 win over rock bottom Rossendale in a blizzard at the Shay on Tuesday night.
It was another difficult night to play football, but could be good preparation for the battles to come
"If it is like this again at Radcliffe on Saturday, we know what to expect," said Crossley.
"We played in difficult conditions last Saturday and again on Tuesday.
"At this stage of the season we just have to dig in.
"It wasn't pretty to play and I imagine it was 10 times worse for the fans to watch.
"But from our point of view we wanted to get the game on and try to get maximum points which we did.
"Rossendale came and made it hard for us. They put 10 men behind the ball and were not interested in attacking.
"We just had to keep our composure and once we scored the first goal we were pretty comfortable."
The weather accounted for games involving both Colwyn Bay and Curzon Ashton, while leaders Lancaster were losing 5-2 to Southport in the Lancashire FA Trophy last night.
That enabled Town to move up to second in the table, hot on the heels of the Dolly Blues.
"It is nice to know that we are clawing games back," he said. "Going second in the table is great, but knowing that we are catching up on games is fantastic.
"We have caught up on Colwyn Bay and Lancaster and put some distance between us and Curzon and Skelmersdale.
"We are on a bit of a run and need to keep the momentum going.
"That's important at this time of year.
"We have a lot of games in a short space of time and if confidence is high going into them, hopefully we can be picking up maximum points every time we play."
Karl Ledsham scored on the hour to give Skelmersdale a 1-0 win at Leigh Genesis last night.
