Halifax’s paralympic champion Hannah Cockroft has successfully retained her T34 200m title in style at the IPC World Athletics Championships in Lyon.

The 20-year-old won by almost two seconds and was in a class of her own coming home in a championship record of 31.78 seconds.

She successfully reclaimed the title she won in New Zealand two years ago, beating challengers Rosemary Little from Australia who came runner up (33.73) and Amy Siemons of the Netherlands who finished third (34.54).

One of the stars of London Paralympic 2012 games when she came away with two gold medals, Hannah has a best time over the distance this season that is almost four seconds faster than her rivals.

She will be back in action on Monday and is the hot favourite for the 100m final.
