Paralympic golden girl Hannah Cockroft was at Calderdale College to unveil a sports hall in her honour.
The hall at the college’s new Inspire Centre has been christened the Hannah Cockroft Hall following her world beating achievements at this year’s Paralympics.
Hannah was a former student at the college and Principal Chris Jones said they wanted to rename the hall to recognise her success and inspire students for the future.
The 19-year-old, who won gold in the T34 100m and 200m, said she was overwhelmed by the facilities having had nothing like it when she was at the college.
She said: “It’s a massive honour. I’m very proud to come from Halifax and proud to come from the college. I’m sure we will make some future Olympians in this building.”
