HAVEN’T they done well? Calderdale businesses are already offering their support to the Courier’s latest festive campaign to help needy children in Central and Eastern Europe. We’ve teamed up with Rotary, who every year send shoeboxes packed with gifts to children in desperate need of festive cheer.

Already, hundreds of boxes have been collected from distribution points across Calderdale, but we have plenty more to hand out.

Kier Woodward, a member of Elland Rotary Club, said: “It’s going a lot better than we hoped. People are still coming in to my shop even though we’re in the middle of refurbishment.

“We’ve been very encouraged by people and everybody who is taking part.”

Just pay £1 for your box – which covers the transport fee – and fill it with gifts for a girl or boy, whatever their age, and drop it back so we can send it on its way.

Staff at Kier Woodward travel agents in Elland and Harveys Cook Shop have boxes for you to collect.
