A COLOURFUL collection of wild animals will now welcome youngsters on the children’s ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
Giraffes, elephants and flamingos have been painted on the walls in a £25,000 scheme to brighten up the children’s ward.
This is the first phase of the project and used the creative skills of Sowerby Bridge artists Animania.
Play specialist Rose Hagreen, said: “Creating a fun atmosphere for children to enjoy when they come into hospital is really important.
“It can act as a distraction, reduce anxiety and help make their stay in hospital that little bit easier.
“The artwork also helps families to find their way around the unit.” The project has been funded through donations co-ordinated by MedEuip4Kids, a charity which helps children.
Donations are now needed to fund the next, and final, phase.
Anyone who would like to donate should contact MedEquip4Kids on 0161 7981600.
