ASDA has revealed 1,267 Halifax customers took part in its Sporting Chance Initiative this summer.

Across the UK 50,000 customers took advantage of free activity sessions for children.

Throughout the UK, the most popular activity was swimming with 57 per cent of children taking part. Also popular was football, martial arts and dancing.

Fiona Campbell-Reilly, Asda Head of Community, said: “Families are telling us that school holidays are becoming more expensive then ever and rather than just visiting our stores to save money on their shop they are relying on us to help keep their families active.

“We take this responsibility seriously and that’s why we have brought in more sports providers than ever before, aiming to guarantee a minimum of five sports within reach of every store.”

Free sessions will be available once again throughout the October half term. To take part enter a postcode into Asda’s store locator page (http://storelocator.asda.com/) and either request a voucher or download a voucher from the website.
