The Coneys, from Skircoat Green, are preparing to take part in the Jane Tomlinson Walk for All in the Lake District in September.

Howard and Heidi, five-year-old Fred and three-year-old Francis will be following a four-and-a-half mile course around Windermere in aid of children’s hospice Martin House.

They will also be joined by Howard’s brother George, his partner and their two youngdaughters.

Howard said he has taken part in fund raising runs before and wanted to take part in an a charity event that he could do with the rest of his family.

“We wanted to do something to give something back,” he added.

The family have been busy training for the event, even walking from their home to Salterhebble Junior and Infant School where Fred is a pupil.

The walk takes place on September 9 and the route the Coneys are taking is one of three different lenths that walkers can choose from.

The route will start and finish at Brockhole Visitor Centre and will include views across Lake Windermere.
