A GRATEFUL mum is raising funds for the assisted conception unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital in thanks for her son after suffering three miscarriages.

Paula Shaw, 33, has organised a fun day at Kidzville play gym, West Vale, Greetland, where she works as a party co-ordinator.

She and her husband Chris, had their son Harry, now three, through IVF treatment at the Halifax hospital’s unit after years of trying for a baby.

Paula said: “I am so grateful for Harry.

“If it wasn’t for all the help from the team at the trust, he wouldn’t be here and, for us, he is a little miracle.

“A lot of people don’t like to talk about the IVF process but it has been everything to us and we want to support it so other families like us can be helped to have their babies.

“The team at the ACU were wonderful with us every step of the way.”

The fun day will be held on Monday August 29, the bank holiday, with a bouncy castle, supplied by Leeds firm Abacus, tombolas and face painting..

Proceeds will also be donated to the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.
