NETBALLERS got in the pink to raise funds for a cancer charity.
Sixty-eight teams from the West Yorkshire Netball League played matches in pink costumes at seven venues, including Halifax High School at Wellesley Park, and raised £1,500 for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.
As well as at Halifax High, games were played at Garforth, Bradford and Normanton.
The event was organised in memory of Claire Turton who died from cervical cancer in 2011.
Claire was a founder of the Morrisons Ladies netball team who played in the West Yorkshire League.
Morrisons donated gift packs for the day containing sports drinks and chocolate bars.
They also donated prizes for the guess the goals competition which included a spa day for two and a tablet computer.
Gill Newsome, part of the organising committee, said: “It was a great day and exectly what Claire would have wanted.
“It’s the first time the league has organised anything like this and we hope it can become an annual event.”
