LINDA Riordan MP unveiled a plaque to open a new doctors’ surgery in Sowerby Bridge.

Mrs Riordan was joined by residents, staff and doctors at Meadow Dale Group Practice at Allan House, Station Road.

She said: “It’s an asset to the community which has suffered from a lack of local GP access.” The Meadow Dale Group Practice, which also has branches in Elland and Ovenden, is operated by Assura Leeds, a partnership between 26 GP practices and leading healthcare provider Assura Medical.

Dr Ken McGechaen, chairman of Assura Leeds, said: “Our extended evening and Saturday opening times have proved popular with patients, many of whom have now registered with us.

“If you register with our group practice in Sowerby Bridge, you can also use our other two practices in Elland and Ovenden.”
