Police link two arson attacks

ARSONISTS hit twice in Rastrick yesterday.

Firefighters were called at around 1am to reports of a fire on Malham Road.

Extensive damaged was caused to the back of an empty terraced house.

The other blaze was reported shortly afterwards at an unoccupied ground floor flat on nearby Sherburn Road.

A wheelie bin was set alight by the entrance to the home.

Police are linking the two fires and are treating both as malicious.

They want to speak to anyone who was in the Malham Road or Sherburn Road areas at around 1am yesterday and may have seen something suspicious.

Officers are particularly keen to trace a white man, aged around 18 to 19, who was seen in the area just before one of the fires. At the time he was wearing a baseball cap.

Anyone who can assist with their inquiries is being asked to contact Detective Constable Craig Aubrey on 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
