Halifax British Heart Foundation furniture and electrical store hosted a Science Cafe to thank locals for raising £1.3 million lifesaving funds.
Locals joined fund researcher Dr Richard Cubbon for refreshments and information and awareness on medical research.
Funds raised through the pubic have gone towards heart patient and equipment care - eight defibrillators, a heart nurse and two heart support groups have been implemented across Calderdale.
Jason Lomas, BHF area manager said: “The generosity of people in Halifax has been astonishing; we want to thank every single person who has joined us in the fight against heart disease.
“Quite often people don’t realise that the sofa that they donate to the Halifax store actually raises vital funds and helps pay for anything from an echo machine in the local hospital to a community heart support group.
“We couldn’t fund this lifesaving equipment or research in Halifax if it wasn’t for the local community and we hope that people enjoyed finding out how the money is being spent during our science café!”
