Welcome to Yorkshire have announced a bike bank scheme as part of its legacy plans for next year’s Tour de France.
It is hoped the bank will encourage more people to take to two wheels before the Tour comes to Calderdale next July.
Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “The bike bank will be the first of its kind delivered in the UK.
“We want Yorkshire to be recognised as a great county for safe cycling, inspiring more people to cycle more often and that starts with improving access to bikes at a young age.
“The bank will act like a library allowing families to trial a bike before deciding to make a purchase and is just one of a number of legacy projects that are associated with the Grand Départ which we hope will leave Yorkshire in great shape in the years after the race has left our roads.”
