A new fund-raising campaign urges people to sponsor a nurse at Overgate Hospice.
Bosses are asking for just 16p a day - £5 a month - to help sponsor a nurse and boost the funds at the hospice, which costs £2.8m a year to run.
Chris Wainwright, of Halifax, is supporting the campaign. His wife Carol died aged 51 at the hospice in 2011. He said: “My wife spent five weeks at Overgate and she and all of our family and friends received tremendous support from every single member of the nursing staff. They do a fantastic job and I’m proud to be one of the first to support this new initiative.”
Laura Whitham, fund-raiser, said: “We hope by highlighting people can donate with small amounts on a regular basis, they are still helping the hospice.”
Sponsor forms are at the hospice, or their shops, or at www.overgatehospice.org.uk.
